The Personal Sampler (PS 100) is a handheld device designed for personal air sampling in various industrial and environmental settings. The sampler utilizes a cyclone and filter cassette to collect airborne particles for subsequent analysis. The device is equipped with a programmable timer and flow control to enable consistent sampling rates over extended periods.
The health of workers in many industries, several agricultural operations, and many other occupations (including cooking) is often at risk due to exposure by inhalation of particulates, metal fumes, or other toxic pollutants present in workplace air. Contact with skin and other parts of the body such as the eyes can also lead to irritation and other health issues.
Regulatory agencies in industrialized countries and ISO 14000 lay great emphasis on monitoring work exposure. In India, the Factories act – 1948 as amended in 1987 also places a responsibility on factory management vide section 7-A (2) (e) and 41-F to ensure that workers should not be at risk of ill health due to exposure to high levels of air pollutants during duty hours. As a result of this requires regular monitoring of workers’ exposure is mandatory, particularly in industries where workers are exposed to dusty and toxic environments. The factories act also specifies TaxsLV limits for exposure over the 8-hour work shift for a variety of pollutants.
As the worker (during his normal work routine) keeps moving on the shop floor and at times off the shop floor for lunch and toilet breaks etc. there is a need for a light-weight battery operated instrument that can be worn by the worker so that the monitoring equipment faithfully gets exposed to the varying work environment of the worker.
